Jonathan Goldman is an extremely deep thinker and meditator. Mostly, though, he is a healer with strong feelings and holistic spirituality. On Angel of Sound, he invokes Shamael, the spirit of sound, to guide the creation of this atmospheric honorarium. This spirit visited Goldman on his 42nd birthday. He encountered Shamael many times over the next several months -- both in his personal experiences and through those of his students. This deep sound world totally surrounds and penetrates focused listeners. It goes around, through, over, and below them as the elements intertwine. It is a rope within a rope and there is powerful energy created by the invocations and evocations. Again, as with most of Goldman's CDs, this can function at many levels. It will appeal to fans of Anugama, Zero Ohms, Dean Evenson, and Thea Surasu.
