Anne Murray returned to her Canadian hometown in 1997, performing in Nova Scotia for the first time in 29 years. An Intimate Evening with Anne Murray...Live captures that performance, and the results are surprisingly strong. After all these years, Murray remains in strong voice, and she delivers 13 songs, including such favorites as "Danny's Song," "Save the Last Dance for Me" and "You Needed Me." Jann Arden joins her for "Insensitive" and "Snowbird," while Bryan Adams duets on "What Would It Take," and both duets are quite engaging. While the album relies a little too heavily on recent material, condensing a number of favorites to a "Croonin' Medley," it remains a welcome reminder of Murray's way with a song.
