Time-Life's AM Gold: Radio Gems is a too brief collection of late-'60s and early-'70s pop songs that nonetheless captures a very entertaining moment in pop history. Tracks like Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'," the Fifth Dimension's "Wedding Bell Blues," Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile," and the Guess Who's "These Eyes" are among the best tunes by those powerhouse artists. The rest of the disc is one-hit wonder territory with somewhat over-played but still fun songs like Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun," Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight," and Michael Martin Murphey's "Wildfire." The disc could stand to be longer in duration, but it will suit anyone who just wants a brief look at the era's AM radio scene.
