Pianist Carol Britto, a fine player from the East Coast, performs a set of solos, a couple duets with veteran tenor saxophonist Flip Phillips, and some trios with Phillips and bassist Michael Moore. Most of the interpretations are quite relaxed and taken at a slow to slow-medium pace. Phillips' warm tone is very much in evidence on his features. The only exceptions are "My Shining Hour" and a surprisingly hot version of the ballad "Talk of the Town," which finds Britto, Phillips, and Moore all cooking. It is a pity that there were not a few more heated numbers along the way, but overall this is an enjoyable set of swinging and thoughtful jazz.
