Roger Kellaway and Red Mitchell were frequent during the 1980s and this two-day duo session recorded in Mitchell's Stockholm apartment is a delightful, very intimate affair. Kellaway's lush chords are the perfect complement to Mitchell's fat-toned but always lyrical bass. They frequently stretch out at length, as on their brilliant opener, "Alone Together," as well as during a dazzling, very deliberate take of "Emily." In addition to a memorable arrangement of "Dear Old Stockholm," they jointly improvised the tasty "Blues Blues" right on the spot. This session is heartily recommended to bop fans, as are all of their recordings together.
