AllMusic Review by

Aloha from Tennessee Ernie Ford was recorded in Hawaii with native accompanists for that authentic touch, and Ford sounds perfectly at ease warbling along with the steel guitar and ukulele on these 11 Hawaiian classics. He takes "Pearly Shells" at a brisk pace while singing in both English and Hawaiian, and exercises his basso profundo with particular profundity on the Jimmy Dorsey/Frank Ifield hit "I Remember You." The island vocalist known only as Lani duets with Ford on the ever-popular "Hawaiian Wedding Song," which joins "Aloha Oe" and "Beyond the Reef" as the best known tunes in the bunch. There was a time when the Hawaiian album, like the Christmas album and the sacred album, was a ready-made concept awaiting any popular entertainer, but Ford's genuine enthusiasm for Hawaiian music gives his entry into the Hawaiian album sweeps an easy charm with practically zero schmaltz.
