The Everly Brothers were the duo that introduced harmony singing to rock & roll. Influenced by the tight, close harmonies of country music brother-duos like the Louvin Brothers, and inspired by the rockabilly music of Elvis Presley, the Everlys created little slices of teenage life, drenched in rich, aching harmonies that drive the melodrama (and, occasionally, humor) home. Many of their songs have gone on to become standards in rock, country, pop and R&B: "When Will I Be Loved" and "Let It Be Me," for example, are both included here. On the classic "Take A Message To Mary," heartache and despair never sounded so good. The Everlys' harmony sound made a definite impression on the British Invasion bands of the 1960s--listen to the early recordings by the Hollies and (especially) the Beatles. Classic early rock & roll at a most reasonable price.
