Although drummer Peter Erskine gets first billing, the subtitle of this CD is "Presents Joe Mazzone." Mazzone, who is Erskine's cousin, is an OK cabaret singer with a decent voice who does not improvise much. Other than a lone instrumental ("Theme from 'The Flintstones'") that features pianist Frank Collett, Mazzone's singing dominates this set. Since he adds little to such songs as "Once Upon a Time," "My Foolish Heart," "Star Dust," and "That Old Black Magic," tunes that have been recorded in more memorable fashion a countless number of times, this set is mostly recommended to Joe Mazzone's other relatives.
