AllMusic Review by

The superior but underrated pianist Mike Wofford gained some recognition when he recorded a series of records for Discovery, starting with this LP. The set of unaccompanied solos covers a wide range of music, with the many highlights including Bud Powell's "Oblivion," "The Naked City Theme," "Struttin' With Some Barbecue," "What Is There to Say" and a medley of "Cabin in the Sky" and "Nina Never Knew." Although one can accurately think of Wofford as having been influenced by Bill Evans (particularly in his chord voicings), he always infuses his performances with his own personality. This out-of-print album remains one of his finest efforts to date.
