AllMusic Review by

The third volume in a 10-volume series covering the history of music in African film, the Manu Dibango installment of AFRICA VISION: MUSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY OF AFRICAN CINEMA collects the Camaroonian musician's soundtrack sessions. Like Dibango's studio albums, AFRICA VISION VOL. 3 is full of vital work that crosses stylistic boundaries left and right, incorporating jazz, soul, funk, Latin, rock, and African dance rhythms such as makossa. The disc provides not only an excellent overview of Dibango's music (not to mention his singing and saxophone playing), but an intriguing ode to African cinema as well (which has been terribly underrepresented in the West).
