While Definitive Records' Year in Your Life series does a fine job with the collections that they have issued which span single years, their decade spanning collections issued as part of the same series seem a bit scattershot. The songs are almost always recognizable, but not consistently iconic, and while the series plants itself pretty firmly in pop music, there is a wide range of styles and moods represented here. A Year in Your Life: 60s, Vol. 3 manages to be pretty enjoyable despite its journeys all over the musical map. Who couldn't love the Beach Boys' "Surfin Safari," Freddy Cannon's "Palisades Park," and the Shangri-Las' "Leader of the Pack"? The Bobby Fuller Four provide another highlight with "I Fought the Law."
