AllMusic Review by

A virtual cornucopia of gutsy, uptown soul which includes hard to find tracks from Tony Hester, Timothy Wilson, J. J. Barnes, Lester Tipton, Candi Staton, and the Masqueraders, most highly collectable in their original 45 rpm format. The two best known selections are Bobby Womack's "What Is This" and the O'Jays' "I'll Never Forget You," co-written by Edwin Starr and designated for a Motown deal, which the O'Jays' nixed. These tunes are mostly for devoted Northern Soul fans eager to uncover good singers, writers, and producers who never got the exposure they deserved.
