A Christmas compilation made up of tracks by artists from the Washington, D.C., area is not such a difficult concept to pull together, as there are plenty of good musicians scattered around this region in a variety of styles. Between Santa Claus and winter weather lies the heart of many a tune, and the songs here include traditional as well as original numbers. Styles include every view of rock, rockabilly, and country blues that one can garner from the edge of a bar as well as some of the traditional styles that have always flowered in this region. The most unusual group featured is a combination of the large brass band the Silvertones with the McCullough Fellowship Choir, and the resulting version of "Mary Had a Baby" is a standout track. Of course there are a few less interesting pieces, but these might be good times to sneak off and wrap presents.
