AllMusic Review by

A Drop of Hilarity is a pointless repackaging of Flanders & Swann's debut album, 1960's At the Drop of a Hat, minus five and a half songs (the hilarious "Songs for Our Time" is inexplicably cut in half). Perhaps the intention was to "modernize" the album by dropping those songs more dependent on cultural references of the time, but whatever the reasoning, it's a botch that destroys the flow of a classic of cabaret-style musical comedy. The far superior At the Drop of a Hat is still in print and is a much better purchase, even for the complete Flanders & Swann novice. Transport of Delight: The Best of Flanders & Swann, from 1995, is recommended for those looking for a compilation.
