A Child's Celebration of Rock 'n' Roll is ostensibly for kids, but it is simply a collection of rockin' favorites from the '50s and '60s, done by the original artists. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with "Rock Around the Clock," "Yakety Yak," "Purple People Eater" and the others. But what makes this disc a kids' disc? The answer is absolutely nothing. Children's artists and labels like Joanie Bartels, Barney, Kidsongs and Walt Disney have tried their hand at kids' versions of such songs. And other recordings from this label have featured kids' artists or adults performing songs dressed up for kids, so it's hard to figure out the motivation for this recording. It's great for DJs who might have a hard time finding some of these tunes with such good sound quality, but that's about the only reason to recommend it.
