The third and final Buck Clayton Jam Session of the mid-'70s, although not as classic as his jams 20 years earlier, is excellent and swinging. This LP (which has not yet been reissued on CD) once again has a very interesting lineup of all-stars: Harry "Sweets" Edison and Marvin "Hannibal" Peterson on trumpets, trombonists Vic Dickenson and Jimmy Knepper, altoists Earle Warren and Lee Konitz, tenors Buddy Tate and Budd Johnson, Bob Wilber on soprano, pianist Hank Jones, bassist Richard Davis, and drummer Bobby Rosengarden. Together they swing hard on four of Clayton's originals, getting some opportunities to trade off and riff behind each other. Fine music.
