AllMusic Review by

In 2005 96.1 The River released this holiday music CD, 96.1 FM: Holiday Hits 2005, in conjunction with Little Rock-area Barnes & Noble stores. The set list reflects the station's "lite rock" format, with Celine Dion ("O Holy Night"), Aaron Neville ("Please Come Home for Christmas"), Vanessa Williams ("Do You Hear What I Hear") -- even Trans-Siberian Orchestra is here, with a typically anthemic contribution called "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24". Nat King Cole provides some classic holiday cheer with "Christmas Song," and the keyboards in Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time" are still spongy and weird. Holiday Hits 2005's best moment might be Mariah Carey's "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," which never fails with its rousing gospel flair.
