Released in Japan via WEA, 80's 12 Inch Singles Collection features an arbitrary selection of tracks and makes no attempt at appealing to any one group of '80s-music fans. Those happy to find the 12" version of Sheila E.'s "The Glamorous Life," for instance, aren't likely to be equally enthusiastic about finally obtaining the extended version of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" -- and vice versa. Just the same, Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart (Red and Blue Mix)" isn't going to excite the same people who come here for the seven-minute mix of Chaka Khan's "I Feel for You." Needless to say, the disc lacks focus and will be of use to few.
