On first glance 70's Generation looks like a feasible, though quite short, collection of '70s hits. Tunes by the Grass Roots("Sooner or Later"), Stories ("Brother Louie"), the Chi-Lites ("Oh Girl") and Rare Earth ("Get Ready") were all radio staples and would make for a fun listen. If all the songs weren't re-recordings, that is. Hearing Badfinger's clattering take on "Come and Get It" or Edison Lighthouse's stiff "Love Grows" is not fun, it is painful and kind of sad that so many bands are willing (or forced financially) to re-do their hits for these cheesy compilations. Don't be fooled by the track list, this is a disc to avoid.
