Written by John Kander and Fred Ebb (who also wrote Cabaret and Chicago, among others), 70 Girls 70 takes a group of retired theatre performers and follows their descent into robbery as a means to save the hotel which they inhabit. Their ruse is quite successful, as no one would suspect this group of elderly (and in some cases, quite ill) actors were to blame for the jewelry robberies. Ultimately, of course, their scheme falls apart on one big robbery, but until then, its tremendously enjoyable to follow these characters through their crime spree. This delightful recording is for Kander and Ebb enthusiasts especially, but is a worthwhile listen for any casual musical theatre fan.
