7 Colours Review

by Dean Carlson

Like an over-achieving high school mascot, Lost Witness's "7 Colours" demonstrates just which components of bravery and enthusiasm it takes to be thick as a post. Simon Paul and Simon Kemper may be accredited for sampling the unusual -- Nina James' "After the Rain," in this case -- but this cyber-chirping trance crossover chokes on dim-witted snare effects, vacuum-sucked remixes (Dial M for Moguai, Jon Doe), and a deep-seated groveling instinct when it gets near anything even remotely, vaguely like acceptance by the masses. Released in many different variations worldwide, this should never had made it past a white label.
