AllMusic Review by

At ten songs, Madacy's 60's Sock Hop doesn't deliver much beyond the most basic of '60s party rock. Not only that, but over half the songs are not the original versions but are modern day recordings by the original artists. Chubby Checker's "Let's Twist Again," the Reflections' "(Just Like) Romeo and Juliet," Del Shannon's "Runaway" and Mary Wells' "My Guy" all fall into that sad category. The few originals like Sam the Sham's "Wooly Bully" and the Shangri-Las' "Leader of the Pack" cannot help overcome the feeling of disappointment that accompanies a collection of re-recordings. Skip this disc and find one made up of all original recordings. [This disc is a reissue of K-Tel's 1991 release only with a different cover.]
