AllMusic Review by

This three-disc set sure offers a lot of smooth reggae sides, but unfortunately the tone and feel of most of them is so sugary and mellow that one feels like a nap about half the way through the first disc. And where is dread, despised Babylon? No, it's all sweet love and romance here, and nothing has an edge to it at all, which is fine, but don't expect anything more than that. Even the odder tracks, like Dave & Ansel Collins' "Double Barrel," appear to be re-recorded, smoothed-out versions. And how can you have 50 of the Very Best of Reggae as the title and not include even one Bob Marley song? File under Lovers Rock/Chillout Music.
