Aldir Blanc is one of the most important lyricists in Brazil. Deeply carioca (as Dorival Caymmi says in this album's presentation, "Everybody is Carioca, but Aldir Blanc is Carioca really"), his sincere adherence to the culture of his state and country makes his compositions, always written together with important names of Brazilian music, a safe bet. This case is not different. Commemorating 50 years of life, he called great artists to perform his songs: Edu Lobo ("Pianinho"), Ivan Lins ("Pequeno Circo Íntimo"), and Ed Motta ("Crescente Fértil") (all of them interpreting songs which they wrote together with Aldir); and Antônio Adolfo, Nana and Danilo Caymmi, Bororó, Guinga, João de Aquino, Arranco de Varsóvia (today just Arranco), Cláudio Jorge, Jorge Simas, Emílio Santiago, Leila Pinheiro, Fátima Guedes, Moacyr Luz, Clarisse, Paulinho da Viola, and Marco Pereira, along with some of the real composers of the hills: Wilson Moreira, Walter Alfaiate, and Nei Lopes, complemented with a band and a 20-figure string section. The album is a must have for carioca modern samba lovers.
