AllMusic Review by

Taking material from the '60s through the '90s, mostly from the vaults of the Muse and Landmark imprints, 32 Gems From 32 Jazz is an excellent three-disc sampler of the mainstream jazz label's catalog holdings and a fitting celebration of its first three years of existence. Nearly every major straight-ahead jazz style from that period is represented, from hard bop and hints of "outside" improvisation to funky soul-jazz and bluesy grooves, making it a great introductory survey to one of the best catalogs outside of Blue Note and Original Jazz Classics. Just some of the many stellar musicians here include Brother Jack McDuff, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Horace Silver, Bobby Hutcherson, Sonny Stitt, Phil Woods, Les McCann, David "Fathead" Newman, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Grant Green, Houston Person, and Nat Adderley, plus many more.
