If The Shadows were England's answer to the Ventures, it's easy to why from this generous 31-track collection of their best work. Lead guitarist Hank Marvin was inspirational to countless aspiring British pickers, and his cleanly articulated lines and twangy leads earmark every note on here. But the Shadows were also one tightly knit little combo, and the joined-at-the-hip quality of their interplay also makes them a band with their own readily identifiable sound. A pre-Beatles British rock group that's really worth a listen.
