Madacy's 21 Winners: Jukebox Hits of the '60s looks on the surface to be a pretty decent collection of some of the '60s best pop songs. A closer look shows the inclusion of three tracks bythe Association and two by Herman's Hermits, one would have been enough for each band. An initial listen uncovers the shameful truth that this collection is not a made up of the original hits. Instead most of the tracks are remakes of the originals done long after the hit version, sometimes done long after the original singer or band should be making records (Ben E. King, the Association, Wayne Fontana). Anybody who expected the originals will be very disappointed; it certainly makes no mention of the nature of the recordings on the front cover. Mark this down as yet another attempt to rip off casual rock fans looking for good, cheap collections of oldies.
