The cover says it all on this one: the Millennium Collection is nothing more than a new version of Jimi Hendrix's Smash Hits with a gross color frame laid over the original artwork. The music is unassailable -- just look at the track list -- but what did the label need to do this for? Why not just issue it as it was? No matter, crummy new artwork or not, Smash Hits was a great moment for Hendrix fans collecting as it did the best tunes -- or the most successful, anyway -- off the first three studio albums.
