20 Number 2's of the 70's Review

by Tim Sendra

20 Number 2's of the 70's presents an interesting concept and some excellent music to back it up. Hard to believe some of these tracks (Andy Kim's "Rock Me Gently," Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing," and Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You") didn't make it all the way to the top, but the title proves it. The chart placings are taken from the U.K. charts, which explains the presence of the Glitter Band's "Goodbye My Love," Mud's "The Cat Crept In," and the Sweet's "Hell Raiser," among others. No matter what country, the music is a fine snapshot of '70s pop, and worth tracking down for the '70s enthusiast who wants to go (a little) deeper into the charts.
