Dean Martin was a master of balladry, and this Disky collection includes 20 examples of his art. Unfortunately, these aren't the 20 best examples of that art. The disc opens with "That's Amore," one of his most familiar songs, and includes several of the Italian ballads he treasured ("Return to Me (Rittorna a Me)," "Come Back to Sorrento," "In Napoli," "I Have But One Heart (O Marenariello)"). Still, the list of items left out here -- "On an Evening in Roma," "Everybody Loves Somebody," "Volare," "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You," "Innamorata (Sweetheart)" -- makes it abundantly clear that the compilers have seriously misstepped. All that's here is good, but not all that's great is here.
