1978: 20 Original Chart Hits continues British label A Time to Remember's look at the hits of the decade. It includes many of the same artists (Crystal Gayle, Tom Robinson, the Stranglers, Frankie Miller) that were also collected in the 1977 edition of the series and keeps the same heady mix of styles. There are songs from new wave hitmakers (the Buzzcocks' "What Do I Get"), AM radio (Dr. Hook's "More Like the Movies"), disco (A Taste of Honey's "Boogie Oogie Oogie"), and pop (the Shadows' "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"). The mix is not as successful as it could be because the producers decided to include two tracks apiece from some of the bands. Still, it works well as a document of a very fragmented year in the charts.
