AllMusic Review by

The Classics Chronological Series presents Benny Goodman's complete studio recordings made between August 29 and December 19, 1945. While the big band comes across as solid as ever (and some will appreciate the vocals by Liza Morrow) the best jazz in this pocket is that which was delivered by Goodman's sextet featuring vibraphonist Red Norvo. Other memorable players involved with Goodman's groups during the second lap of 1945 were trumpeter Billy Butterfield, trombonists Kai Winding and Trummy Young, reedmen Bud Freeman and Peanuts Hucko, pianist Mel Powell and bassist Slam Stewart. Arrangements are credited to Edgar Sampson and Fletcher Henderson.
