AllMusic Review by

This set collects the two-dozen recordings violinist Joe Candullo did with his various orchestra ensembles between 1926 and 1928. Candullo had a lengthy 60-year career (he died in 1977) but he remains a relatively obscure figure even in jazz circles. Among the sidemen on this set are trumpeters Red Nichols, Jimmy McPartland, and Leo McConville, reed player Jimmy Dorsey, and trombonist Glenn Miller, and tracks here like “The Hobo’s Prayer,” “Jackass Blues,” and “Deep Hollow” show that Candullo's ensembles were pretty hot dance bands.
