AllMusic Review by

For being a discount-level album, 18 Golden Hits is an exceptional find. It reprises 18 of the most recognizable vocal songs done by Ray Charles throughout his career. There are no credits or dates given on the liner notes, so the information on such is unknown, though judging by the quality of the voice, they are relatively old recordings when Brother Ray's voice was less gruff. There is a beautiful duet with Betty Carter on "Baby, It's Cold Outside," more bumping, grooving renditions of "Unchain My Heart" and "Hit the Road Jack," and soft favorites such as "Georgia on My Mind" and "Ruby." The album is rather well done, especially considering the low price of it.
