The sociological message in "Find Her Finer" is pretty simple: If you want to impress a girl, don't show her you are smart, sink below her level, "Act like a dummy 'til you finally grind her." Released on the 1976 LP Zoot Allures and as a single (b/w the title track), this song is a simple medium-tempo rock with blues overtones (thanks to Captain Beefheart's harmonica). One of Zappa's most straightforward tunes, it follows a logic similar to "Fine Girl," another attempt at a lowest-denominator hit single. "Find Her Finer" was performed only a few times in 1976 and then shelved. Sped up and rearranged to include Vegas-style brass lines, it reappeared during the 1988 tour (a version can be heard on The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life) but failed to convince anyone of its interest. Nevertheless the vocal group the Persuasions recorded a spirited cover of it for their album Frankly a Cappella.
