Uriah Heep

All My Life

Song Review by

Falling midway through side two of Demons And Wizards (and also appearing as the b-side to Uriah Heep's first US hit single, "Easy Living"), "All My Life" (as in "I will love you...") is one of the most unaffectedly romantic songs in the Uriah Heep canon, and another example of the band's ability to compress a virtual epic into the smallest possible space. Wrapping up at just 2.42 minutes, "All My Life" nevertheless unveils a virtuoso David Byron performance that stretches his vocals from belligerent rock growl to operatic screech, while Mick Box's guitar all but blueprints the sound of classic rock as it moved into the mid 1970s.
