AllMusic Streams It All: Lewis Watson - The Wild

If our exclusive stream of Various Cruelties' self-titled debut left you hankering for more fresh sounds from London, this stream's for you. This week we're pleased to share with you the first listen of Lewis Watson's latest release, The Wild EP!

This 20-year-old singer/songwriter first started playing guitar four years ago, building a YouTube fanbase in the following years with cover versions of songs by artists like Bombay Bicycle Club, Bon Iver and SBTRKT and catching the ear of Warner Music. The Wild is the third in a series of EPs showcasing Watson's warm, optimistic charm -- including the iTunes chart-topping Another Four Sad Songs -- and the first to show him expanding his sound to a full-band production. In this new setting, Watson's gentle verses contrast with heartstring-pulling hooks, which brings a little more polish to the party while keeping that personal connection intact.

RIYL: the precocious, vintage sensibilities of Jake Bugg; the shimmering folk of Mumford & Sons; Birdy's ear for stripped-down pop covers.

Sorry, this exclusive stream has expired. Stay tuned for more upcoming albums streams on AllMusic!

Purchase The Wild via iTunes. The Wild is out April 2 on Warner Music.
