When Tony Isaacs, owner of Indian House, heard the drum-accompanied singing of traditional native American group, the Ashland Singers, at a pow-wow in Eagle Bluffs, ND, he was so impressed by what he heard that he tracked the troupe down and signed them to a recording contract. Although they only recorded one album, The Ashland Singers: Northern Cheyenne War Dance, the power of the Ashland Singers and the extraordinary, vibrato-heavy, vocals of their late lead singer, Harvey Whiteman, are long remembered.
