The Texas three-piece known as SWITCHhiTTER combine influences from the Birthday Party, Distorted Pony, and Sweet Pea with their own formality of guitar noise. With the latter of the two aforementioned noisemakers cementing SWITCHhiTTER's sound -- in part due to guitarist David Uskovich's previous membership in both the Pony and the Pea -- their first single, "Oklahoma," debuted on Propeller Records in 1998. Following a self-titled 7" issued by the group, Framed Records released SWITCHhiTTER's first full-length, Academy, in 1999.
