Artist Biography by

Steve Huey first joined the All Music Guide staff in the summer of 1994, while attending Michigan State University. In 1997, after completing his B.A. in English with a thesis on Frank Zappa, he accepted a full-time position as an assistant editor and staff writer. He departed in the summer of 2001 seeking adventure in faraway lands, but has continued to fill various niches for AMG as a freelance writer. Steve's high-school heavy metal band Putrid Stink was name-checked in the write-up of Spin magazine's "Worst Band in America" contest. He is a compulsive music collector, and he has also worked as a DJ, playwright, and (most prestigiously of all) non-speaking movie extra. He is faintly visible in the blockbuster film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (pictured left) and the chucklesome skateboarding flick Grind. Steve currently lives in Los Angeles, where he performs work for money. Yar.
