Artist Biography by

Centered around Limerick-born accordionist and Four Men and a Dog founding member, Donal Murphy, and County Cork-born fiddler Matt Cranitch, $Sliabh Notes is one of Ireland's most exciting young, tradition-rooted bands. Based in the mountains of Sliabh Luachra, a region near the border separating Cork and Kerry known for its distinctive slides and polkas, the group is equally proficient at jigs, reels, slow airs, and songs. The Evening Echo referred to Murphy and Cranitch as "one of the finest and most electrifying Sliabh Luachra-style box and fiddle duos you could ever wish to hear," while, the Irish Times claimed "it is difficult not to be carried away by this music." On their debut album, Gleanntan, released in April 1999, Murphy and Cranitch were accompanied by influential fiddler Padraig O'Keefe and Terry "Cuz" Teahan.
