One of England's most exciting young folk groups, the Ran Tan Band features the dynamic soprano and alto saxophone and recorder player Fiona Booth (known as Fiona Fahlin since her 1994 marriage to Lars Fahlin) and her brother Simon Booth, who plays harmonica and melodeon. According to German music magazine Folk Michel, the Ran Tan Band performs an "emotional, acoustic, dancefloor music." Taking their name from the Kate Bush tune "Ran Tan Waltz," the Ran Tan Band also features melodeon player Martin Ellison, whose resume includes appearances on albums by Eliza Carthy and the English Melodeon Players, and hand percussionist Martin Hazell. The group's bass and mandola player Peter Reeve died in 1995.
