Singer Linda Escobar was born in Alice, TX. While listening to her father Eligio Escobar practicing singing and playing guitar, Escobar started to be captivated by music. After singing together at a local venue, the artist was approached by a radio announcer who invited her to a morning show, where Linda Escobar had the opportunity to reach a bigger audience. Soon Escobar had the chance to record her first single, which included traditional songs "La Huerfanita" and "La Bola Negra." In the 1980s, Escobar formed her own band called Zamen, later singing along with Tony Guerrero and Hermanos Cadena.
