b. 27 June 1946, Miami, Oklahoma, USA. Dawson moved to Littleton, Colorado at an early age, and lived there until 1964. After teaching himself to play piano and guitar, he played in a high school group, then joined the navy. Dawson’s first two albums were recorded on Kama Sutra, but he signed with RCA Records in 1974, releasing Jim Dawson. For this recording, he had worked with producers Cashman And West, known for their work with Jim Croce. Although not a true folk performer in the strictest sense of the word, Dawson’s work is difficult to put into one genre.
