Their name a pun on the expression ‘hand over fist’, this hard rock group was formed in the mid-80s and brought together several veterans of the Canadian metal scene, namely Frank Zrione (vocals), George Bernhardt (guitars), Chris Brockway (guitars), David Applin (bass) and Kim Hunt (drums). Bernhardt was the best-known of the members, having formerly achieved considerable success working with Lee Aaron. Signed to MCA Records in 1985, the group’s self-titled debut was heavily promoted by the label, who undoubtedly regretted their investment in the group when they broke up before a supporting tour could be finalized. Hannover Fist was thus deleted within weeks of its release, despite strong reviews for its intricate, April Wine -derived style.
