Eso-Charis is a side project put together by Living Sacrifice bassist Arthur Green and drummer Matthew Putnam. The two roped in vocalist/guitarist Cory Putman and guitarist Jayson Holmes to round out the band, and began to play in 1996 under the name Elliot. The band was much more an alternative rock project than a metal band, something that took Living Sacrifice fans by surprise. The two bands performed together enough to inspire fellow Sacrifice member Bruce Fitzhugh to produce their 2001 eponymous debut.
