Two of the most beloved practitioners of the tongue-twisting improvised singing style known as embolada, Brazil's Manu Velho and José Roberto -- also known as Caju & Castanha -- honed their art on the city streets since they were teenagers. Velho and Roberto entertained audiences both regionally and internationally, and also produced numerous recordings including Recado a Sao Paulo, Embolando No Futebol, and the eponymous Caju & Castanha. Sadly, Velho passed away in 2001. He was replaced by Roberto's nephew Ricardo Alves da Silva the following year.
