Friends Don Perrish (vocals, guitar) and Ken Lush (flute) began playing together in 1972; based in Ontario, they later began working on original material, calling themselves the Amazing Vibrasonics. By 1974, the band was a sextet, also including Roger Manning (vocals, harp), Tom Treece (vocals), John Vass (vocals, drums), Danny Moses (vocals, bongo, violin) and Jeff Benjamin (bass). They signed with MCA and in 1975, released their first single, "Dance She Said." The debut album, One More Time, was followed by a self-titled 1976 effort.
