An important trumpeter, bandleader, and educator on the West Coast, Brad Steinwehe leads a fine big band. Steinwehe graduated from San Diego State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in music in 1992 and a masters in 1994. As an educator, he has taught at the University of Northern Colorado, Paloma College, and Miramar College, in addition to San Diego State. He is also a clinician and brass coach in the San Diego area. As a lead trumpeter, Steinwehe has appeared in many settings, including working with Tony Bennett, Lou Rawls, Donna Summer, Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole, and Melissa Manchester. He has performed in Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Denmark, and Costa Rica, and his San Diego State University Jazz Ensemble played at the Montreux and North Sea jazz festivals. In 2004 he formed the Brad Steinwehe Jazz Orchestra, whose recording Nutville (for the Sea Breeze label) is an impressive effort.
