The series of Manassas Jazz Festivals always featured dixieland jam sessions, some of which were more under control than others. The music on this out-of-print LP has its moments even if Johnson McRee (head of the label) takes three spirited but unnecessary vocals. Trumpeter Billy Butterfield is easily the most consistent soloist, pianist Dill Jones gets in a few spots and McKinney's Cotton Pickers' veteran Dave Wilborn sings "Am I Blue." Highlights include "Keeping Out Of Mischief Now" and "Sunday" but this music was better seen live than heard years later on record.
